Posted on by justin
Playing Terraria during a world’s pre-Hardmode stages may make you encounter the Goblin Army invasion. Progress through the game, and you can eventually experience its Hardmode equivalent – Pirate Invasion. So, keep reading to learn about the Pirate Invasion in Terraria, its trigger requirements, enemies, and more.
Pirate Invasion Event: An Overview
Introduced in version 1.2, the Pirate Invasion in Terraria is a repeatable Hardmode event. However, it has specific requirements before players can trigger it. As for its difficulty, battling against Terraria’s pirates isn’t as challenging as other events like the Pumpkin Moon invasion. Still, you might find yourself in Davy Jones’ locker if you challenge this event unprepared. How to Start
As mentioned earlier, Terraria’s Pirate Invasion is a Hardmode event. Also, the world must have at least one Altar destroyed, and one player must have at least 200 maximum health. Completing these requirements can trigger the Pirate Invasion, albeit randomly. Alternatively, you can use the Pirate Map item (acquired from defeating enemies in the Ocean biome) to trigger the event without relying on RNG. You’ll know if pirates will soon invade when the words “Pirates are approaching from the east/west!” appear on the screen's bottom-left corner.Enemies and Loot
Once the event begins, players must kill 120 pirates to complete the instance. Also, this requirement scales with the number of players currently active in the same world. For example, two players in a Terraria world seed must kill 240 pirates to complete the invasion. The unique enemies, and their exclusive loot, you’ll encounter in this event are:- Parrot: Coin Gun, Cutlass, Discount Card, Gold Ring, Lucky Coin, and Pirate Staff
- Pirate Captain: Eye Patch, Sailor vanity set, Buccaneer vanity set, and random pieces of Golden furniture
- Pirate Corsair: Eye Patch, Sailor vanity set, Buccaneer vanity set, and random pieces of Golden furniture
- Pirate Crossbower: Eye Patch, Sailor vanity set, Buccaneer vanity set, and random pieces of Golden furniture
- Pirate Deadeye: Eye Patch, Sailor vanity set, Buccaneer vanity set, and random pieces of Golden furniture
- Pirate Deckhand: Eye Patch, Sailor vanity set, Buccaneer vanity set, and random pieces of Golden furniture
- Pirate’s Curse: Coin Gun, Cutlass, Discount Card, Gold Ring, Lucky Coin, and Pirate Staff
- Flying Dutchman: The Dutchman and Flying Dutchman Trophy
Tips and Tricks to Complete the Pirate Invasion Event
Despite other events and invasions more difficult than Pirate Invasion, it can still give some players a run for their doubloons. So, here are some tips and tricks that may help you beat this event without shivering your timbers.- Prepare an invasion shelter. Isolate yourself from most of the event’s enemies, so you’ll only worry about the Pirate’s Curses and their attacks that pass through surfaces.
- Bring the Nurse and Druid NPC nearby. That way, you can have emergency healing and debuff removal during the event.
- Use weapons with piercing effects. Some great examples include the Adamantite Glaive, Marrow, and Hellwing Bow.
- Summon minions and entries. Doing so will help increase DPS and survivability.
