Terraria Cool Whip Guide: How to Get, Stats, Effects, & more

Posted on by justin
In Terraria, those who play the Summoner class often have little to defend themselves against incoming attacks. This role is only really covered by Whips. One of the most notable whips to use in Terraria is the Cool Whip, with some powerful unique effects for players in early Hardmode difficulty. And we’re here to teach you how to get it.

How to Get the Cool Whip in Terraria

Terraria Cool Whip Players can craft the Cool Whip in Terraria by using the following ingredients near a Mythril or Orichalcum Anvil:
  • 8x Soul of Light
  • 8x Soul of Night
  • 1x Frost Core
Find the Soul of Night by opening Defiled or Hematic Crates in the Underground Corruption or Underground Crimson biomes in Hardmode. As for the Soul of Light, you can find this Hardmode material by breaking Divine Crates in the cavern layer of the Underground Hallow. Finally, kill an Ice Golem in the Snow biome to obtain the Frost Core. Note that the Ice Golem is a rare spawn, so you may have to search the Snow biome for a while before finding one. Fortunately, the Frost Core is a guaranteed drop from the Ice Golem. Note: The Ice Golem doesn’t appear in the Frost Legion and Frost Moon events.

Cool Whip Stats and Effects

Introduced in the Journey’s End update, the Cool Whip in Terraria summons a snowflake that ignores 30 defense of the enemy it hits. This summoned minion will only last for 3 seconds. However, hitting another enemy will reset the timer, allowing players to keep it on the screen for as long as possible, provided there are opponents to hit. It’s also important to mention that hitting another enemy with a different whip won’t cause the summoned snowflake to disappear. Additionally, enemies hit with the Cool Whip will receive the Frostburn debuff, inflicting damage over time (DoT) for 4 seconds. Moving forward, the stats for the Cool Whip are as follows:
  • Damage: 45 (Summon)
  • Knockback: 1.5
  • Use Time: 30
  • Velocity: 8
