Stardew Valley Penny Gifts Guide: Loves, Likes, Hates, and Heart Events

Posted on by justin
In Stardew Valley, Penny is an NPC that you can marry. Players can often find her doing chores or reading books at the local library. Increasing her friendship level isn’t very difficult, unlike other NPCs. However, it’s still important to know what the best gifts for Penny are in Stardew Valley or you can risk reducing her friendship level.

Penny: The Simple Girl Next Door

Stardew Valley Penny Introduced when the game released, Penny is a shy and modest girl who lives with her mom, Pam, in a trailer. She also doesn’t have grandiose dreams and likes spending time with her hobbies, namely cooking and reading books. Oftentimes, she tutors Jas and Vincent at the library. If you decide to marry Penny, she’ll move into your farm and give you gifts while retaining her job at the museum.

Stardew Valley Penny Gifts Guide

Players can give a present to Penny up to twice per week. But you can also give her an extra gift on her birthday in Fall 2. Also, like other NPCs in Stardew Valley, Penny has different reactions to different gifts.

  • Neutral: “Thanks, this looks nice.”

Heart Events

Stardew Valley Penny Event Players can trigger Heart Events every even-numbered friendship level with Penny in Stardew Valley. Not that some of these events may positively or negatively affect your relationship with her. Additionally, you can trigger a 14-heart Heart Event, albeit it’s locked behind married life with her.

Two-Heart Event

Trigger this event by entering Pelican Town on a sunny day at any time between 9 am and 2 pm. Penny will also ask you some questions during this instance. Your answer may also increase or decrease your relationship level with her.
  • +50 friendship: "I was. You did a kind thing there, Penny."
  • -50 friendship: "I was. You should've asked instead of assuming George wanted help."
  • No effect: "I'm just taking a walk, minding my own business."
Penny will also ask another question after her first query. But your answer to this second inquiry won’t affect your relationship with her.

Four-Heart Event

Enter Penny’s trailer anytime, as long as she’s at home. Let the scene play out. No special instances that can affect Penny’s friendship level with you will occur during this Heart Event.

Six-Heart Event

Again, enter Penny’s trailer when she’s at home. This time, you’ll taste one of her cooking creations. But your chosen reaction can affect your relationship level with her.
  • +50 friendship: "(Lie) Mmm! That was delicious!"
  • -50 friendship: "Uh... can I get the rest to go?"
  • No effect: "Well it's definitely unique... how did you get it so rubbery?"

Eight-Heart Event

Enter Cindersap Forest at any time between 9 am and 4 pm. This time, you’ll see Penny with Jas and Vincent. You’ll also go through a series of questions that can affect your friendship level with her, depending on your answer. The choices for the first question are:
  • +10 friendship: "I'd love to!"
  • No effect: "Sure."
  • -1,500 friendship: "No... I can't stand kids." (The cutscene ends if you choose this option)
If you choose one of the first two choices, the cutscene proceeds. Then, Penny asks you another question. This time, your choices are:
  • No effect: "I haven't really thought about it."
  • +20 friendship: "Absolutely. I want a big family."
  • +20 friendship: "I guess so. It's a natural urge."
  • +10 friendship: "No, I don't think I'd be good at it."
  • -10 friendship: "No, The world's crowded enough already."
  • -10 friendship: "No, I don't want to be tied down with a family."

Ten-Heart Event

Players can only proceed with this event after they receive a letter from Penny. The message should also be an invitation to enter the spa’s pool area. Once received, go to that location between 7 pm and 12 am to trigger the scene. This time, you’ll encounter another set of options. But the only negative answer is the selection that says, “Sorry, but I don’t like you in that way....” Choosing these options will reduce your friendship level with her by -1,500 points.
