Failure to satiate your thirst in Sons of the Forest can result in death. But you can’t drink water from any body of water on the island. Instead, utilize the following methods to ensure you have clean water in Sons of the Forest.
How to Get Clean Water in Sons of the Forest
Sons of the Forest added a dirty/clean water system as of Patch 07. Drinking dirty water will do more harm than good to your character. So, below are the ways you can get clean water in Sons of the Forest.Method #1: Use a Water Collector
The first step to craft a Water Collector in Sons of the Forest is to find and kill a large turtle. Then, use your knife to remove the shell from the animal. Remember, killing small turtles doesn’t count because their shells can’t catch enough water. Tip: The western beach has a good amount of large-shelled turtles. You can reach this place using one of the Hang Gliders on the map. Next, gather 12 sticks. Then, open the Guide Book (press “B” on your keyboard by default). Flip through the pages until you get to the Utility portion. Here, you should find the Rain Catcher recipe. Click on it, and craft the structure. The next step is to wait for rain for the Rain Catcher to collect clean water.Method #2: Gather Water With a Flask and Boil It
Another way to get clean water in Sons of the Forest is to boil it using a Cooking Pot. There’s a Cooking Pot in the Abandoned Camp by the lake on the island's western side. Then, create a Flask using 100ml of Printer Resin at a 3D Printer. You can then gather water from any nearby lake using the flask. Note: Check out our Sons of the Forest Red Mask Guide for a list of 3D Printer locations that you can use. Once you have a Cooking Pot and water in a Flask, the next step is to build a campfire or fire pit. Light it with the lighter from the Emergency Pack. Open your inventory and click on the gear icon, then select the Clean Water option from the cook menu. If done correctly, your character will open the lid on the Cooking Pot and place the water in the container. Wait for the process to complete, and you can enjoy the clean water and live to fight another day on the island.Get Started with a
