Coal is a valuable resource in Palworld, and farming this material grants Pal Trainers access to mid-to-endgame equipment. But where can you find this item? Farming Coal in Palworld can be tricky, but we’re here to help you out in that regard.

Where to Find Coal in Palworld

First, it's essential to know the appearance of Coal deposits. So, you'll know when you find them while exploring the map. Coal-gathering spots look like large, black boulders. These deposits are distinct compared to Stone or Ore gathering areas since the former has a grayish tone while the latter typically consists of bronze-colored boulders. You’ll likely find Coal deposits in dry and hot areas, particularly in deserts. Perhaps the best place to farm for Coal in Palworld is the small desert at the center of the world's map. In particular, check two coordinates for Coal deposit clusters: -155, -90, and -97, -120. The second location can also be ideal for placing a Palbox since it’s a secluded spot. That way, you can also take advantage of the area’s natural defenses to protect your Coal farming operation from raids. Alternatively, the large desert biome on the top-right of the world map has many Coal deposits. However, this region has Pals with levels higher than Level 20. So, ensure you’re well-prepared before venturing into this area, especially if you plan on battling some of this section’s Alpha Bosses, like Necromus and Paladius. Once found, simply use your Pickaxe to mine Coal from these deposits. Alternatively, use Pals, like Digtoise and Rushoar, to make the mining process faster. If you have a Lucky Pal with the Mining trait, these massive variants might be able to mine from two (or more) spots at once, making the operation even more efficient than usual. Tip: Breed Pals with skills like Workaholic to improve mining and producing items further.

Palworld Coal Recipes & All Uses

The primary use of Coal in Palworld is to craft the Refined Ingot from the Improved Furnace. Note that you can unlock this building at the Technology Tree upon reaching Level 34, assuming that you have 4 Technology Points to spare. Then, craft 1x Refined Ingot using 2x Ore and 2x Coal.
