Players have had quite a bit of time to test the latest Minecraft April Fools snapshot, but little did anyone expect just how many Easter Eggs they would find! Fishing Elder Guardians, breaking Bedrock, and even flying dragons through the sky! Today we explore the “One Block at a Time” update and all the little secrets hidden within.
Minecraft April Fools Snapshot – Installing to Follow Along
For those who have not yet played, installing the “One Block at a Time” update is a straightforward process done right from the Minecraft client. To quote the official Minecraft blog, players need only do the following:
“To install the snapshot, open up the Minecraft Launcher and enable snapshots in the “Installations” tab.”
From there, make a new installation with the snapshot and click play. But be warned, snapshots can corrupt old worlds! Ensure backups have been taken!
Minecraft April Fools Snapshot – All Known Easter Eggs
Riding The Ender Dragon
Players who made it to The End of the update were surprised to learn that punching the Ender Dragon led to something unexpected—riding the Ender Dragon!
Doing so grants a One Block at a Time exclusive advancement, and players can even fly the Ender Dragon into the void, which teleports both them and the dragon to the overworld. A reward most fitting for this April Fools Challenge mode!
Breaking Bedrock
Some players with a little too much time also learned that Bedrock can now be mined! However, this feat of strength is not so quickly done. Even with “Haste II,” breaking a single bedrock block takes over ten minutes!
Chicken Gliding
For those who are fans of the Zelda series, this feature is not all that unfamiliar. Lifting a chicken and jumping from any height will cause the player to glide downward slowly.
Teleporting With Ender Men
Similar to picking up chickens, picking up Ender Men will cause players to teleport at random. It is not very useful, but it is very fun!
Spider Climbing
If a player manages to pick up a spider, they will be able to climb walls, but be careful! Hostile spiders will still be hostile once thrown!
Fire and Lava Immunity
Perhaps the most helpful mob to carry is Magma Cubes. While not entirely unexpected, they make players immune to both fire and lava. Perfect for the nether, I would say!
New Head Slot Items
Throwing some items into the air and having them land on the player’s head will result in them being equipped to the head slot similar to jack o lanterns. New blocks and items that this can be done with are snow, snow blocks, ice, packed ice, blue ice, magma blocks, and barrels. But be warned, some have additional effects!
The snow and ice will cause the player to freeze, magma will cause the player to burn, and the barrel obstructs vision. However, sneaking with the barrel also causes some very humorous camouflage.
New Wolf Texture
Using a name tag with the name “Mars” will cause any tamed wolf to take on a unique dark brown texture.
Fishing Guardians
Causing more than a few jumpscares, players have found that it is possible to fish up Elder Guardians. This mob is usually the boss mob of Ocean Monuments, so be ready to throw them very far away!
Playing The April Fools Snapshot with Friends
Interested in exploring these Easter Eggs with friends? Snapshot servers can be created for free through home hosting, but we recommend paid hosting options for ease of use and performance. Especially with snapshots that can be buggy!
Paid hosting is offered here at BisectHosting and many other places around the web. In either case, no less than 4GB of server RAM is recommended.
A List’s End
The Minecraft April Fools Snapshot adds many new features, but the ones we have listed above are often missed or overlooked. We hope these Easter Eggs provide a little extra fun and especially recommend riding in on a dragon to impress friends.
Until Next Time,
BisectHosting =)
