Hytale 2025 News: Development Progress, Playtesting, & More

Posted on by cade-davie
It's time once again for a new update from the creators of Hytale! This is the first piece of Hytale news we've received in 2025, and it dives into what the team has been working on, what's next in working on the title, and more. There's even some behind the scenes imagery of concept art! Head below to see our summary of the latest Hytale News.

Hytale: New Engine Progress

First and foremost, the folks at Hypixel Studios Inc. have been hard at work on their jump into C++. As part of those efforts, the team has improved upon certain atmospheric aspects. In the update, you can watch two brief videos that showcase the game's day/night cycle, improved shadowmaps, and the current skybox. Additionally, the game's Creative Mode is briefly shown off by having a player character fly around. It's only a sneak peek, but the character's flying animations are an exciting touch! While the developers don't go into every detail of the engine improvements, things seem to be going well!

Hytale: Internal Playtesting

So well, in fact, that the studio will begin plenty of internal playtesting during 2025. With the new engine's systems such as core movement, combat, block placement, crafting, and more being put in place, the studio hopes to test everything out through a series of internal playtests. Some of these tests will heavily focus on creator-focused features. Hytale aims to be a highly customizable experience, and so the systems that allow players to select and manipulate the world's blocks are very important. Another point these tests hope to accomplish is full implementation of 'Regions'. Previously, the world of Orbis in Hytale was divided into Zones. Now, however, the world is split into different Regions. Each Region consists of three to five biomes that are connected based on either gameplay or narrative context. These Regions might be smaller than Zones were, but the team hopes to deliver more interesting points of interest and encounters with this system. The first Region is called Central Grasslands. In this area players can expect prairies, small forests, rocky outcrops, and plenty of resources. Like the Central Grasslands, the remaining regions will draw upon inspiration from Hytale's old Zones. We currently know the other Regions will be called Wild Savannah, Boreal Frontier, and Earthglade. That's all we know for now, so we'll have to wait for another update to learn more about what lies in each new part of Orbis.

Hytale: New Faction Additions

Finally, the developers shared some behind the scenes concept art on a new addition to the Kweebec faction. Now the previously revealed Kweebec Seedlings can become Mature Kweebec Warriors. These fierce-looking woodenfolk represent the in-between point for the Kweebec line. As a result of their inclusion, the faction should feel more complete both visually and lore-wise. While there wasn't much news on the five Hytale features we've been anticipating, the developers do seem to be working hard to finally make Hytale's release a reality. You can check out their update yourself if you'd like to learn more about the internal playtesting or get a good look at the Kweebec creatures and their lore. Here's hoping that Hypixel Studios Inc. will have more to share with us in the near future!
