Announced during Minecraft Live and added as of
Snapshot 23W43A, Copper Bulbs are the newest source of light to appear in the game! So, today, we show step-by-step how to craft Copper Bulbs in Minecraft 1.21 alongside the steps needed to ensure they are maintained.
Crafting Requirements

Crafting a Copper Bulb will require three Blocks of Copper, one Blaze Rod, and one Redstone Dust. Blocks of Copper are made by smelting Copper Ore into Copper Bars using a Furnace or Blast Furnace. Once nine Copper bars are finished, place one in every slot of a
crafting table for a Block of Copper to be made.
As for the Blaze Rod, it will require a trip to a Nether Fortress, where the Blaze mob spawns. This fiery mob has a 50% chance to drop a Blaze Rod upon death. Defeat as many as possible to have plenty of Blaze Rods on hand! Finally, Redstone Dust is found in various loot chests or by simply
mining in the Overworld.
How to Craft Copper Bulbs

Four Copper Bulbs are crafted on a
Crafting Table by placing the materials gathered above in a specific pattern. Below, we have provided the steps for this recipe in detail.
- First, place one Block of Copper in the middle of the top row.
- Second, place one Block of Copper in the left-most slot of the middle row.
- Third, place one Blaze Rod in the middle of the middle row.
- Fourth, place one Block of Copper in the right-most slot of the middle row.
- Fifth, place one Redstone Dust in the middle of the bottom row.
Your Copper Bulbs are now complete!
Powering & Maintaining Copper Bulbs

After a Copper Bulb has been placed, it will not light up automatically. Players will need to temporarily add a
power source, which can be anything from a Redstone Block to a Redstone Torch. Once the Copper Bulb lights up, the source can be removed, and the light will remain on.
However, if the Copper Bulb is placed outside, the elements will slowly cause it to oxidize and turn green. While this may be cosmetically nice, Oxidized Copper Bulbs emit less light. Should their full power be desired, players can create a Waxed Copper Bulb by placing a Copper Bulb on a crafting table with one
Honeycomb. This will prevent oxidation even when outside.
