Minecraft 1.19.1 may have had quite a few controversial features, but Allay duplication was not one! Our adorable new companion can now create a friend from itself, making a single Allay two. However, Allay duplication does not follow the standard format of animal breeding that players know. Today we show step by step how to breed Allay in Minecraft 1.19.1.
Befriending An Allay
Before Allay can be duplicated, one must first be found! Allay spawns naturally in pillager outpost cages and the jails of woodland mansions. Keep in mind that there is no guarantee one will spawn, so keep on searching, and luck will eventually be on your side.
Once found, Allay can be befriended or “tamed” by simply handing them an item. Allay will then do its best to follow you around and pick up more of the item you previously gave to it. Congratulations on saving your first Allay!
Duplicating Allay, Step 1: Gathering Items
To duplicate Allay, players will need the following items:
- Wooden Planks x8
- Diamond x1
- Music Disc x1
- Amethyst Shard x1
Wooden planks are easily obtained by cutting down trees and turning the logs into planks, but the diamond and Amethyst shard will require a little mining. Thankfully we have a mining guide here to help!
Finally, a music disc will also be needed. These spawn naturally in loot chests throughout the game but finding a few dungeons would likely be the fastest option. Otherwise, you can try your luck at having mobs slay each other for rare drops!
Duplicating Allay, Step 2: Setting the Stage
With all the previously mentioned items in hand, it is now time to craft the Jukebox! This music-playing block is made on a crafting table by creating a border of eight wooden planks with a single diamond in the middle.
Once complete, set your Jukebox down and ensure your music disc and Amethyst Shard are in hand before proceeding onto step three!
Duplicating Allay, Step 3: Dance Party!
With Allay nearby, put your music disc into the Jukebox. Allay will begin to spin and dance, and at this point, you hand the Allay an Amethyst Shard. If all is done right, your Allay should split into two!
This process can be repeated once every five minutes as long as you have enough Amethyst Shards.
