Are you ready to become a digital poultry farmer? If so, understanding the ins and outs of caring for chickens in Farming Simulator 22 can get you far! With that in mind, here we'll cover everything you need to know to start a chicken coop in Farming Simulator 22.Farming Simulator 22 Chicken Coop Guide
Chickens are among the easiest animals to care for in Farming Simulator 22. However, these animals require specific essentials to ensure they stay healthy and produce goods.Housing
Chickens in Farming Simulator 22, like other farm animals, need housing. Farmers can place their chickens in a pasture or coop in this game. However, this guide will focus on chickens placed in coops. Nonetheless, here are the different housing options for chickens in the game:- Pasture: Costs $6,000 and holds up to 30 chickens.
- Coop: Costs $79,000 and holds up to 360 chickens.
Buying Chickens
Farmers can access the in-game shop to purchase chickens and place them in coops. One way to access the shop is by pressing “P” on your keyboard (for the PC version). Alternatively, walk to the floating paw symbol next to the coop and press “R.” While in the shop, choose “Animal Dealer,” and the game should make you select which animal housing to choose for the purchased livestock to spawn into. For the sake of this guide, select the Chicken Coop option, which should bring you to a new window. Here, you can select from different chickens, which are the following:- Young Hen: $5
- 6-month-old Hen: $50
- Rooster: $5
Chicken Coop Status
Farming Simulator 22 farmers should frequently look into their livestock and poultry to ensure proper animal health. Otherwise, the animals, especially the chickens, won’t produce goods. So, check up on the poultry in your Farming Simulator 22 chicken coop by accessing the in-game menu (press the “Escape” key by default for the PC version). Next, select the Animals tab, leading you to a new window. Here, you’ll see various details about your chickens in the coop, including the following:- Value
- Age
- Health
- Reproduction cycle
- Productivity
- Eggs produced
- Food consumed
Caring for Chickens
Chickens in coops in Farming Simulator 22 only require grain. You can get grain by harvesting wheat, barley, or sorghum. If you have the extra cash and don’t want to go through the lengthy process of harvesting grain, you can buy chicken feed from the in-game shop. Find this item in the Big Bags section. Then, select the Big Bag Pallets to find the chicken feed. With the grain or chicken feed in a trailer, park the vehicle over the Feed icon next to the chicken coop. Then, overload the chicken food into the coop (press “I” by default for the PC version).Earning Income with Chickens
Eventually, the chickens will lay eggs, which you can sell at the market. Note that various traders will buy eggs from you. However, it’s ideal to sell the eggs to the highest-bidding buyer. Check the Sales section of the in-game menu to know which station buys eggs at the highest price. Remember, the value of eggs is quite low. On the other hand, you can take the eggs, along with butter, sugar, strawberries, and flour, to the bakery to produce cake. Then, sell the cake for a higher price for additional profit.
