Don’t Starve Together Planar Weapons Guide

Planar Weapons in Don’t Starve Together will only be available after opening the Lunar Right or Shadow Rift. Every Planar Weapon deals Planar Damage, increasing the player’s damage output against enemies.

Brightshade Sword

• Crafting Recipe: 4x Pure Brilliance and 3x Brightshade Husk
• Damage: 38 to 41.8
• Planar Damage: 30 to 35
• Durability: 200
• Perk: Deals 10% increased damage to shadow creatures, +10% normal damage, and +5 planar damage (if the user is wearing the Brightshade Helm)

The Brightshade Sword is arguably one of the best Planar weapons in Don't Starve Together. However, it can easily take the top spot thanks to its flexibility. In other words, almost any Don’t Starve Together character should have no trouble wielding this Planar sword, especially when paired with the Brightshade Helm.

Brightshade Bomb

• Crafting Recipe: 4x Pure Brilliance, 4x Brightshade Husk, and 1x Infused Moon Shard
• Damage: N/A
• Planar Damage: 200
• Durability: N/A
• Perk: N/A

Perhaps the only drawback of the Brightshade Bomb is it’s a consumable item. However, it can deal massive Planar damage to enemies and structures when they’re hit by the blast. Remember, only equipment and mobs with Planar properties can defend against Planar damage, and the items on that list are fairly few.

Brightshade Staff

• Crafting Recipe: 3x Pure Brilliance and 6x Brightshade Husk
• Damage: N/A
• Planar Damage: 10 to normal mobs or 20 to shadow creatures
• Durability: 50
• Perk: Deals 2x more damage to shadow creatures and Fires a projectile that bounces between enemies 5 or 7 times (if the user is wearing the Brightshade Helm)

Introduced in the From Beyond Update, the Brightshade Staff is a ranged weapon that can fire homing projectiles to enemies. Additionally, the magic bolts fired from this weapon aren’t as powerful as other Planar weapons in Don’t Starve Together, especially when compared to the Brightshade Sword. Nonetheless, the projectiles bounce off of enemies, making this weapon good for crowd control.

Brightshade Smasher

• Crafting Recipe: 1x Pure Brilliance and 2x Brightshade Husk
• Damage: 32.5
• Planar Damage: 10
• Durability: 600
• Perk: Deals 10% more damage to shadow creatures, reduces the number of actions required to hammer/mine an object, and deals +10% normal damage and +5 planar damage (if the user is wearing the Brightshade Helm)

The Brightshade Smasher is more of a tool than a weapon. It’s a combination between the Hammer and Pickaxe, allowing players to mine from rocks and cut trees with a single piece of equipment. Still, you can hit enemies with it, and the Brightshade Smasher can deal some Planar damage to them.

Brightshade Shoevel

• Crafting Recipe: 1x Pure Brilliance and 2x Brightshade Husk
• Damage: 17
• Planar Damage: 10
• Durability: 250
• Perk: Can dig and till soil, deals 10% damage to shadow creatures, and deals 10% increased physical damage and +5 planar damage (if the user is wearing the Brightshade Helm)

Like the Brightshade Smasher, the Brightshade Shoevel should be under the tools category rather than being one of the Planar weapons in Don’t Starve Together. However, this item can help users dig and till soil instead of smashing rocks or cutting trees. But the Brightshade Shoevel is weaker than the Brightshade Smasher when comparing their damage outputs.

Shadow Reaper

• Crafting Recipe: 3x Pure Horror and 1x Dark Tatters
• Damage: 38 to 41.8
• Planar Damage: 18 to 47
• Durability: 200
• Perk: Can be used as a Weapon in combat or a tool for resource gathering.

Players can use the Shadow Reaper as a weapon or a tool. For the latter, the Shadow Reaper can gather all nearby pickable resources without manually interacting with them one by one. If used as a weapon, this scythe delivers damage that rivals the Brightshade Sword. It can deal even more Planar damage if the user is wearing the Void Cowl. However, the Shadow Reaper is the only Don’t Starve Together Planar Weapon that has a negative effect. Equipping it will make the character’s Sanity drop 0.06 points per second.

Howlitzer

• Crafting Recipe: 1x Spark Ark, 3x Brightshade Husk, 3x Pure Brilliance, and 3x Moon Rock
• Damage: 34 (25.5 if used by Wigfrid)
• Planar Damage: 34
• Durability: N/A
• Perk: Ranged weapon and uses Hound’s Teeth as ammo

The Howlitzer is arguably the best ranged Don’t Starve Together Planar Weapon because of two reasons. First, it deals more than enough damage from afar. Second, it doesn’t consume Hound’s Teeth. In other words, you only need to have 1x Hound’s Teeth in your inventory to produce unlimited ammo for the Howlitzer.
