At BisectHosting, we aim to offer the best server hosting services around, which means improving your experience at every level of the process. With this in mind, our recent control panel update, dubbed the Aurora Update, has gone live!
Here, we’ll discuss everything the Aurora Update offers and why we’re so excited to share it with you.
What is the Aurora Update?
The Aurora Update is a recent update to BisectHosting’s control panel. It refines existing features that our customers know and love while introducing some new QoL features that make server management easier and more convenient. Effectively, it’s an entirely different control panel built onto Pterodactyl, and it’s more secure, faster, and focused heavily on user experience.
It took our team over a year to design, develop, and test the new panel to fit the needs of our customers. Much of this time was spent reaching feature parity between our old Multicraft panel, which had 10 years of new features we needed to replicate in an entirely different code stack.
These features include our instance manager, backup manager, Minecraft JAR menu, plugins & datapacks manager, player manager, config editor, live activity monitor, and subdomain configuration. Not to mention making sure that these changes were done carefully to ensure no disruption for our large quantity of servers that must communicate across nodes through the panel.
In the end, this update improves user experience immediately, but its most important feature is the possibilities it opens up for the future. While it may be centered on Minecraft, it will have far-reaching implications for our other 50+ games as well, giving us more design space to improve our control panel experience across the board, with new features and improvements on the way.
What The Aurora Update Means for the Future of BisectHosting
The Aurora Update immediately brings some great improvements to our control panel, but its bigger impact will be on the future of our feature development. This update allows our development team to move on from retroactively rebuilding our features onto the new panel and start work on building a ton of new features from our backlog and ensuring that these features work for all of our 50+ games. That means plenty to be excited about in the coming months and years, something this update sets the stage for.
Our new and improved control panel is available for new customers immediately, but existing customers will first need to undergo a transfer process to get started. All server data like IP addresses, player data, backups, subdomains, and instances will all automatically transfer to this new games panel. This process, however, will be done incrementally across all of our locations over a few weeks. So, how will you know when it’s your turn? You will receive a notification via email and an announcement on the control panel 24 hours before your server is scheduled to transfer over. As always, you can reach out to our 24/7/365 support team anytime to answer any questions or issues you may have along the way.
