How to Fight the Procoptodon
The Procoptodon can still deal massive damage if it chooses to fight unprepared ARK survivors. However, its reactive nature typically means you’ll give chase instead of fighting it. If one decides to fight you, stay away from its drop-kick attack. Failure to evade this attack will be met with significant knockback. On the other hand, it requires you to be within close proximity to the Procoptodon for it to hurt you. Use this short range to your advantage by using ranged weapons to fight this creature from afar. How to Tame the Procoptodon
Domesticating the Procoptodon in ARK: Survival Evolved is possible through the standard knockout (KO) method. However, it can be tough to tame if it flees. Chasing it on foot is possible, provided you have sufficient stamina and speed to catch it. Alternatively, throw a Chain Bola to immobilize the fleeing Procoptodon. Note that a normal Bola won’t work on this creature. You can also be on its tail (pun intended) while mounted on another fast-moving creature in ARK, like the Wyvern. Once you catch up to it, feed the Procoptodon with its preferred food – the Rare Mushroom. The Plant Species X Seed is also another option to tame this create. Unfortunately, the Procoptodon is a picky eater and will only accept these two food options. Why Tame a Procoptodon?
Once tamed, the Procoptodon in ARK: Survival Evolved can fulfill many roles. It can even cater to more responsibilities than some tamable creatures. Some of the roles the Procoptodon can handle are the following:- Escape Vehicle: Being quick on its feet, the Procoptodon can help you and another ARK survivor escape from a failed raid attempt.
- Battle Mount: If you’re on the offensive, the Procoptodon can help knock back some targets when it attacks. It also has a considerable amount of health and weight.
- Infant Transporter: The Procoptodon’s pouch can carry baby creatures, allowing you to transport infants safely to different locations.
- Agile Jumper: Mount a Procoptodon and use its superior jumping ability to scale tall cliffs and walls that are otherwise almost impossible to reach on foot.
