ARK: Survival Evolved Crystal Isles Map Guide

The Crystal Isles in ARK: Survival Evolved is a 150-square-meter map. It holds a range of biomes, including a rainforest, a volcanic region, and various floating islands. This ARK is also the home of the Crystal Wyvern and its Queen, the boss of this ARK.

Crystal Isles Resource Locations

The Crystal Isles has resources in other ARKs, except for the Primal Crystal. Nonetheless, it’s still ideal to know the locations of these materials. That way, you can make farming for these items easier and faster than randomly going around the map. The resources you can find in the ARK: Survival Evolved Crystal Isles are the following:

Primal Crystal

The Primal Crystal is the only unique resource in Crystal Isles. Its use is to imprint and raise a baby Crystal Wyvern. You can acquire this item by knocking out a wild Crystal Wyvern and harvesting it from the creature. Another method is to kill an Alpha Crystal Wyvern, albeit it’s a more dangerous route than knocking out a regular Crystal Wyvern. Find Crystal Wyverns in the southwestern parts of the Crystal Isles. Tip: Tame a Crystal Wyvern as part of a fast level-up process in ARK: Survival Evolved.

Obsidian

Obsidian is an uncommon resource in ARK: Survival Evolved. Use this material to craft different items, including the Camera, Cannon Ball, and Chain Bola. Travel to the center of the Crystal Isles to find clusters of Obsidian gathering points. In particular, the two coordinates you should focus your efforts on are 55 LAT, 56 LON and 32 LAT, 44 LON.

Metal

Although fairly common across various ARKs, Metal is still an important resource that should always be in your inventory. Gather sufficient Metal, and use those items to craft things like the Compass and Ammo Box. Three Crystal Isles locations allow you to gather many Metal pieces. These coordinates are the following:

• 55 LAT, 47 LON
• 80 LAT, 16 LON
• 38 LAT, 49 LON

Silica Pearl

You need Silica Pearls if you’re considering taming a Brontosaurus in ARK: Survival Evolved. In particular, use this resource to craft the Bronto Platform Saddle. Alternatively, Silica Pearl is an ingredient to craft Electronics, a material commonly used to make various tools like the GPS and Remote Keypad. The first location to find a cluster of Silica Pearls is at 41 LAT, 41 LON. Once you deplete this area of its pearls, travel to the area between the White Shoal and The Great Forest in 39 LAT, 61 LON for another collection of Silica Pearls.

Crystal

You wouldn’t call the Crystal Isles its name if it didn’t have Crystals. It’s also an important material to craft many items in the game, including (but aren’t limited to) the Spyglass, Water Jar, Radio, Refrigerator, and Air Conditioner. ARK Survivors can find Crystals in many locations on the Crystal Isles map. But a concentration of this particular item lies in three coordinates, which are the following:

• 37 LAT, 67 LON
• 54 LAT, 53 LON
• 37 LAT, 67 LON

Oil

Like the Crystal, use oil to craft various in-game items. Use it to make in-game objects like the Fabricator, Grenade, Soap, Vault, and Tripwire Alarm Trap. Note that you must usually dive underwater to find Oil-gathering spots. The coordinates where you’ll find these resource-gathering locations are the following:

• 31 LAT, 36 LON
• 34 LAT, 59 LON
• 31 LAT, 62 LON

The Crystal Isles Boss Arena

The boss arena in Crystal Isles is the home of the Crystal Wyvern Queen. Her Highness is a larger version of the standard Crystal Wyvern. However, this boss variant has crystals on different parts of her body, namely the head, back, and shoulders.

Entering the Arena

As with other ARK: Survival Evolved bosses, you can enter the Crystal Isles boss arena by interacting with an obelisk. Note that you must offer the correct tributes to enter the boss’ battleground. The required items are the following:

You must travel to different ARKs to find certain items to use as tributes in entering the Crystal Isles boss arena. In particular, go to Aberration to collect the Artifacts of the Depths, Shadows, and Stalker. Travel to Scorched Earth for the Artifacts of the Gatekeeper, Crag, and Destroyer.

Combat

Ensure proper preparation before attempting to take on the Crystal Wyvern Queen. Otherwise, you’ll be barbecued with her various breath attacks. Thankfully, you can understand this boss’ attack patterns to gain the upper hand. For starters, you’ll find the Crystal Wyvern Queen sitting in her nest as soon as you enter her arena. Bear in mind that she attacks in waves, and her first attacks are breath attacks. While she’s spewing elemental breaths from her mouth, the Queen is also laying eggs. These eggs will quickly hatch into fast-growing Crystal Wyvern Heirs to aid the boss in battle. Don’t get too close to the Crystal Wyvern Queen during this first phase. Instead, attack her from a distance using your ranged weapons. Artilleries and turrets on tamed creatures can also work well in this stage. Deplete a certain amount of the boss’ health, and she’ll fly around the arena. At this point, the Crystal Wyvern Queen will still blow breath attacks to you and your allies. However, she’ll also have a new breath attack that drains health from anything it hits. Be aggressive as possible while the boss is flying around the arena. But maintain composure, and let your aim be true. Don’t let this phase linger on more than it should. Otherwise, the Queen’s health will frequently recover, making the fight more difficult than it should be. Whittle the boss’ health to a critical level, and she’ll start laying eggs while flying. The minions are the same as in her first phase. Nonetheless, the additional Crystal Wyverns can become annoying if left alone. If successful, the Crystal Wyvern Queen will fall, and a grand victory awaits you. Also, here are some tamed creatures that can provide excellent help for this fight:
