Hytale’s very first dungeon has arrived, but how does one actually spawn the portals to get inside? For many, the answer is a single step that has simply been skipped! Today, we explain step by step how to find The Guttering Hollows in Hytale.

What is The Guttering Hollows?

Added in Hytale Update 7, The Guttering Hollows is Hytale’s very first dungeon and self-renewing area known in-game as a fragment. This one takes players to a grand island in the sky where those brave enough can explore randomly generated ruins and crypts or venture deeper to goblin mines and settlements far below ground. Loot, bosses, and ancient secrets await! Just don’t forget that Fragments have a time limit and kick anyone who takes too long back out the portal through which they came.

How to Find The Guttering Hollows

Goblin Breach Portal

The first way players can enter The Guttering Hollows is through the portal at the center of a randomly appearing goblin breach. However, goblin breaches will not begin to spawn until a very specific step within the forgotten temple is taken. Head to the left of the memories shrine where a friendly goblin structure with a broken goblin generator inside can be found. Once there, interact with the goblin generator to bring up its repair screen. This triggers the spawning of goblin breaches and creates a message in chat warning that something is occurring in the outside world. From there, leave the forgotten temple and await a large message on the screen indicating that goblins are invading. The first one should occur immediately. Open the map as soon as it does. Active goblin breaches with a portal to The Guttering Hollows are always visible on the map. Upon arrival, slay any goblins in the way before jumping through the portal.

Fragment Key

On the goblin tinkerer’s workbench, players can craft an item called “Fragment: Orbis - The Guttering Hollows,” which can be used with an ancient gateway to open a portal to The Guttering Hollows. It requires 15 scrap, 10 essence of the void, and 5 iron ingots. As for the ancient gateway, the recipe is granted after acquiring 100 memories and can be crafted on an arcanist’s workbench with 30 cobblestone, 10 thorium ingots, 10 essence of life, and 10 essence of the void. Once both are in hand, place down the ancient gateway and activate it with the fragment key to open up a portal to The Guttering Hollows.

Do Fragments Reset?

Unlike structures that generate as part of the world and can only be looted once, fragments, such as The Guttering Hollows, are self-renewing areas within their own separate dimensions that regenerate after each visit. This allows every player to experience and loot them. The time limit of future visits can even be extended by upgrading the goblin breach console within the forgotten temple.
